This permits a member to shoot at the Micket Creek Complex almost every day of the year with no additional fees
(Pistols , Rifles and Shotguns).

Initial permit fee for applicants is a one off fee of $89.
Pistol Licence application fee is $269 and is required once every 5 years.

DARWIN PRACTICAL SHOOTING CLUB ADMISSION CRITERIA
Prospective members need to be 18 years old, possess a current shooter's permit, and clear a fitness check. A mandatory safety orientation is essential for all new members. *Minors are permitted with full members supervision ONLY.
WHAT MATCHES DO DPS RUN?
We run both NRA and IHMSA Matches.

Security remains our cornerstone. We utilise professional marshals, mandate ballistic eyewear and hearing protection, and maintain strict firearm discharge rules across all our bays.
DARWIN PRACTICAL SHOOTING CLUB GUESTS
Guests are permitted when signed in by a local member. Sign in book is kept at the club house. You are not allowed to shoot handguns without a permit but you are encouraged to come and observe to get a feel for the sport.
IS THIS SPORT FOR ME?
Due to the nature of handguns this is a highly regulated sport. It will take a fair amount of commitment to obtain and maintain your licence. Your application for obtaining a permit will also require a high level of police scrutiny. Please look up “Application for Category H Sports Shooter’s Licence/Permit” for a example of what questions you will be asked.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND?
To maintain your pistol licence, you will need to attend a minimum of 3 scheduled pistol matches per quarter (12 per year). If you do not maintain regular attendance the Police Firearms unit can cancel your licence. DPS offer more than 4 shoots per month, so you can easily keep your attendance above the required amounts.
DO I NEED TO BUY A HANDGUN?
No. We have handguns available for club matches. You are welcome to use them under club supervision. We have had members who shot for years without having to buy a pistol.
HOW MUCH DOES HANDGUN COST?
Entry level handguns sell second hand for as little as $600. Decent new handguns start around the $2500.
We encourage you to try different pistols and seek advice from club members, before you decide to buy a pistol.

ONCE I GET MY LICENCE CAN I TAKE MY PISTOL HUNTING?
Absolutely Not. If you are found to be using your pistol anywhere but an approved pistol range, you can and will be charged with Breaching your Pistol Permit.
A Category H Sports Shooter's Licence authorises the holder to possess only prescribed Category H firearms, and to use a firearm under the licence only at an approved firearms club.
DARWIN PRACTICAL SHOOTING CLUB HOURS
The facility welcomes members starting at 7:00 AM until 7pm, daily. Competitions for DPSC held 6pm Thursdays.
